Nate Dogg has died at the age of 41 after a bout of bad health.

According to The Sun, the star's family confirmed that he passed away in the early hours of yesterday morning (15th March), with the cause of death currently unknown.

The West Coast singer previously suffered a stroke in December 2007 leaving the left side of his body paralysed. He then had another stroke a year later.

Dogg, real name Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, shot to fame in 1994 after collaborating with Warren G on smash hit tune Regulate and has also worked with the likes of Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg.

Snoop has since taken to Twitter to express his grief over Nate Dogg's death, posting on his official page: "We lost a true legend n hip hop n rnb. One of my best friends n a brother to me since 1986 when I was a sophomore at poly high where we met.

He later added: "I miss u cuzz I am so sad but so happy I got to grow up wit u and I will c u again n heaven cuz u know d slogan... all doggs go to heaven yo homie n baby brotha bigg snoopdogg!! (sic)"

Fiddy also paid his respects tweeting: "I just landed nate dog is dead damn. GOD BLESS HIM R.I.P he meant a lot to west coast hiphop. Iv always been a fan of it. 50cent."

"I wrote the chorus to 21 questions I needed nate to sing it for me. He had a way of making everything feel hard."

As well as suffering a strokes in 2007 and 2008, Hale experienced a series of health problems in the last few years.
